The Good Life – LA - I Love Substance

The Good Life – LA

I went to the Glow In The Dark tour last night at the Nokia Center in downtown LA. Wonderful music performance by Lupe & Kanye and the Nokia center is awesome as hell. I posted about going to the show before. I love Kanye and Lupe so much I went to the San Jose show on Saturday night. Too bad that show sucked, but LA represented and last night was legit. More pics after the jump.

I grew up in the bay area moved to the valley in sept 06, I have never looked back and have never had so many amazing once in a life time memories in SoCal. I was one of the lucky few that got to see the Common show two nights after the grammies when Kanye and Busta mutha fuckin Ryhmes came out for both of the shows.

I have all of my OG friends and my immediate family in the bay area. I flew to San Jose on Saturday to see the tour with a friend at the HP pavilion. What a let down. bad acoustics, NERD had the best show and just the all around experience was lack luster.

I didn’t have high expectations for Tuesday night show and luckily I was blown away by the Kanye and everyone else. I even knew what was going to happen since I saw it two nights earlier. It was that much better at the Nokia center.

Lupe held it down as usual since he is the smartest and leanest. NERD was funky as usual and brought the crowd into the show instead of just performing to them like in San Jose.

Rihanna had a great set design and style, but did not fit with the overall tour. She did her thang, but aside from the die hard umbrella fans running around with the Marie Digby MP3 on their IPOD it sucked the most out of the 4.

Kanye knows LA is the place and gave the according show. He gave us the GLOW IN THE DARK TOUR, what happened in San Joser, was something else. More like the cheap watch from China that I got as a gift when I was 8 and it only glowed after intense bright light in my bathroom. Then was dead after 1 minute.

Everything from Lupe coming out on in the last song, Touch The Sky to seeing his wardrobe better from the higher quality screens at the Nokia Center. They got the Hi Def quality playback down like Mos Def.

At San Jose I got the feeling that any rapper from wherever could have come out and gave the show. It wasn’t kanye and I didn’t get his life lifting performance. For it was on another level like everyone else
was saying. He isn’t the best in the universe but he understands his audience.

I am grateful that I live in LA and was able to see the show. I strongly recommend seeing the show if you have the opportunity.
