Oh, Hi. | I Love Substance

Oh, Hi.

ram upgrade y'all
I have been tweaking the site, trying to do more refinement instead of renovation. How does everyone like the new design?
Still want to add some new comment plugins and tweak the template so it loads faster, otherwise I am pretty happy with how the site is now.
I have some more 1am on a Monday ramblings after the jump.

I also cleaned out my RSS feed and want to share some of my sites that I am really into now.

Out the door for ‘08:
I am done with recycled content that everyone is blogging. Gime something fresh!

I have a feeling they just search for “green” on google blog search or technorati and repost whatever they find. Going green is so yawn!

They used to post original content now it seems like it is just an aggregation of engadget and gizmodo. My site could be more about design but I hate to repost stuff that you could find on all the other big design sites so I see no point in reposting.

This used to be one of my favorite design sites. Then they redesigned like a year ago (?) and I don’t like all that much of it. This goes back to original concept of OG content. Plus I hate the fact I need to view the post from my RSS reader to see the price. Plus the site doesn’t allow comments or trackbacks.

Ok, enough hate, onto the LOVE!

Come sit on my couch for ‘08:

Oh, well hello there Sally
She is on top of the ball of the new unique content concept. I don’t know where to start, just consistently good stuff and she throws some life into her blog instead of it being bland in humor (like my site, lol).

Wonderful & beautiful posts. Just top notch everything. Every post impresses me.

Not a new site in the design/blog world but new to me and I like it. Decor8 is fresh!

I think that is it. In fact I have so much great stuff in my RSS reader everyday I am pretty behind.

Apartment Therapy redesigned just before the turn of the year and I dig the design. However they have some strong quirks that almost make me want to never view the site but I still am going back for more.
Major quirk is that the RSS posts only have post title and no pictures. No pictures in RSS = Lame!
On “Sumary” posts (example here) they will link up related posts that have some important. However they put the links below the fold so I have to look at the full article to see the links, even if they are only linking 2-4 posts. The only purpose of this is to get more page views so they can show off to their advertisers how special they are. I get the importance of that, but I don’t think that is the best way to do it.

After writing this summary up I realize I need to take my own medicine. I will keep this in my mind going forward.
