Catching up on the Flat Black Hotness

It has been a while since I have posted in the “Black” category. I have a couple pics I have been saving up to post.

997 Turbo, needs different wheels:

This Ferrari 575 looks to have a shoddy job, but it could just be the lighting.

Not really flat black, but all raw carbon fiber Pagani Zonda in full race prep form.

The 599 is my favorite out of the set.

Oh true. I’ll be sure to ask for these next Christmas

That mat black Ferrari 599 is one mean machine, love it. I have seen the black Ferrari Maranello more then once on my trips to Zurich, fantastic car.

Magnificant collection of Flat Back Whips!

Living up north, I have yet to see this flat black phenomenon hit my town because the nice cars only come out in the summer, but I’ve got to say that these cars look awesome! The 599 is a thing of pure beauty.
February 7th, 2008 at 4:19 am
Not a flat finish, but a matte finish. You’ll be seeing more matte finish cars in the near future, as the big three American manufacturers will be introducing it on specific models in the next model year or two…

Love the flat black scene. I own a black hummer with a vehicle wrap. It would look so cool to have a flat black finish under it.
February 8th, 2008 at 4:04 am
flat black does look good. thats what’s going on the 69 skylark this summer. Its going to go sooo fast……
February 8th, 2008 at 5:23 am
I love the finish. I wish it was produced on cheaper cars though.
February 9th, 2008 at 7:57 pm
love the flat black!
February 11th, 2008 at 11:33 am
That one with the Bugatti label on it isn’t a Bugatti.. Its an Audi R8 (I think)
I’m not a huge fan of the whole matt black thing to be honest
February 14th, 2008 at 12:36 am
ferrari 575 is not shoddy but a great paint scheme. matte finishes are coming! be afraid, be very afraid!
February 15th, 2008 at 10:50 pm

Didn’t the flat black look get popularized by the first Robocop movie?
March 2nd, 2008 at 3:24 am
I think flat black all got started in the rat-rod days.
They took parts from whatever cars there were around, wrenched them onto a rolling chassis, then spray painted to give if that worn look.
Not much that comes from Hollywood is original.

Mmmmm….those are all so sexy.

Jim is right I think, it has the headlights of an R8.
I’m loving the finish on the bimmer. It’s like an orgasm on wheels.
I live in the northwest and also don’t get to see the amazing cars on the road until summer when it’s dry for more than a day in a row.
March 8th, 2008 at 4:03 am
Very nice. I have most of the same pics, but found a few additional Porsche pics.

Thanks for the post.

Oh is that right Rick Foote, this is just the primer? Is that why the Audi R8 was photographed on an auto show platform and the GT2 was posed for a photoshoot? It’s not primer you fuck, it’s matte black paint and it’s sexy as hell. Get an IQ greater than the average walrus you jackass.
March 19th, 2008 at 7:58 am
Oh, and while I’m at it, lucca, you’re a moron too…
“I love the finish. I wish it was produced on cheaper cars though.”
Are you kidding me? It’s available on any car you want because it’s generally an aftermarket paint job. And part of the appeal of the matte black finish is that you rarely see it, and when you do it tends to be only on exotics, making it all the more special. Go ahead and paint your Honda Civic matte black but don’t come crying when you get bitch slapped for being a cocksmoker.
And Lilly, let me get this right, you got a 599 GTB Fiorano (which you probably can’t even spell) just for sucking your boyfriend(husband? like it matters)’s dick especially well on valentine’s day? You’re a disgusting symbol of consumerism and are most likely on your way to hell.

Ignorance Police, you are a fucking douche bag. I agree, there are plenty of people on here than probably shouldn’t be posting because of their limited knowledge of what they are talking about. However, for you to maliciously attack someone’s character just for making a dumb comment shows that you are an insecure prick with nothing better to do than make yourself feel better by nit-picking shit on a web-site (where you can remain completely anonymous, of course). You probably are some little coward punk who everyone hates. Hey, I guess the Police moniker fits perfectly…

October 22nd, 2008 at 7:53 pm
@john… You can use any brand, it’s just a flattening agent that’s added to the paint to give the flat or semi flat finish depending upon how much you add. You can also do this with any color, not just black.

All these are sexy beasts but I have to say the Pagoni Zonda is my favorite. It may not be Matte Black, but that is still a wicked car.
Check out the Zonda F

That’s a great shot of the Ferrari. I would much prefer that over the red.

Can you tell me what type of rims are on that top Porsche
December 13th, 2008 at 10:46 pm
I have an 06 Acura TL, which is night hawk Black that I’m spraying with PPG’s Flexed “N” Flat clear coat on Tuesday. Prep is done and the both will be open. I’ve done 5 motorcycles with it already. Awesome finish, very low maint.
Choke

A couple of years ago I bought a copy of Need For Speed Most Wanted on the Playstation 2. The car I finished the game with was a Carrera GT. After looking at every angle of the car I decided it would look the best in the same flat black finish. I finished the GT off with some scarlet, tribal body vinals and the effect was inspiring. Your picture truly is an inspiration to me because it’s the real car. From that moment on, I finished all my NFS custom jobs in the same flat black finish. You’ve turned my fantasy into a reality! I’d like to point out that, I believe, that it may have been the whole Post Apocalyptic road movie genre that might have started this craze. Please don’t quote me on that, it’s only a guess.

An interesting view of the automotive industry. Where do you see the future of the industry, will it ever recover or will there be major casulties?
