The 2008 Porsche GT2
This is Porsche’s new turbo beast. They start with the standard 997 turbo platform, but then rip out the all wheel drive system and other necessary stuff that doesn’t contribute to going fast. It has 530 horsepower and 505 foot pounds of torque that get the car to 100mph in 7.1 seconds. Key thing with this car, is that it only weights 3,175. Because lighter=faster!

To answer a few questions the new gt2 will be rear wheel drive. It will do around 7 min 27 sec around the nurburgring race track compared to the enzos 7 min 36 sec. the price will be around $190,000 with only a few hundred coming to the U.S.

For those that asked the question front wheel drive or rear….For those that responded rear stup..They really do not know what they are talking about as it is 4 wheel drive like the 959 platform several years ago..About 1986. So before you call someone stupid get your own facts straight. It is Limited production about $195,000USD most dealers are selling them for 50-90K over sticker.

It is rear wheel drive only. If you read the captions above and do some reading on other sites the car is not all wheel drive.

It’s definitely not 4 wheel or front drive (that is the 911 turbo). I don’t think porsche would ever make a front wheel drive these days, they are poor performance cars. The 997 GT2 was specifically made rear wheel drive to give the car better handling and balance when cornering, enabling it to be the “fastest porsche ever made” -according their showroom men. If you look at the porsche website it explains much of it there. (as well as having a ‘build your own porsche’ section) I believe this is the best looking porsche ever made and I’m definitely looking at buying one in the next 6-12 months!

The GT2 is definitely a beautiful car.
I’ve been a Porsche enthusiast since I could understand how spectacular their history is.
And no Eric, how stupid would someone have to be to have a front wheel drive/rear engine car?
That would make the rear engine completely useless.
Oh, and the $60,000 Porsche Cayman S can outhandle the $600,000 Ferrari Enzo.
I still think the nicest looking Turbo body was the 996 in 2000.
If I had one of those in gray, I would be the happiest guy on earth.
Either the 2000 996 Turbo or the ‘87 959 Twin Turbo.

i worked out in Utah’s new 200 million race track at Larry H Millers’ which holds all the event from the American lemans an other racing groups an circuits(scca). gt2&3 is the most beautiful sports car.GT Porsche set up bare bones for the track is the heart beat. now u r talking awesome an very fast.yes they are rear wheel drive. Porsche does make a c4 which is a all wheel drive beast an a 2 wheel drive model.O an a race ready Porsche of this nature is well. lets say if you can’t out right pay cash.your not getting one for the track.the price would be 1 million for getting it race ready. keep in mind thats not including the tires you go threw about 4 set every time you race. thats for starters….
